INFORMATION REGARDING THE ACTOR STUDENT EXCHANGE APPLICATION PROCESS

Please read carefully before beginning your application!

 Deadlines:

  • 15 April at 5pm EDT for exchange visits from July through December

  • 15 October at 5pm EST for visits from January through June the following year

  • If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications will be accepted through the following Monday at 5pm.

Eligibility:

  • Student members and postdoctoral collaborators of ACTOR are eligible to apply for funding for an exchange program between ACTOR partner institutions to conduct research within the ACTOR project’s mandate. The following order of prioritization will be followed: 1) doctoral students; 2) masters students; 3) postdoctoral students; 4) undergraduate students;

  • Home and host institutions are ACTOR partners

  • Home and host supervisors are ACTOR members

  • ACTOR will provide a maximum of $2,500 CAD per applicant in support of travel and living expenses.

  • The minimum length of the exchange is 2 weeks.

  • Exchanges must be between ACTOR partner institutions

  • Nature of project

    • Scientific/artistic merit of project

    • Adequacy of student's background to complete the project

    • lnterdisciplinarity

    • Relevance to ACTOR mandate

  • Collaborative potential

    • Potential to develop long-term collaboration across partner institutions

    • Engagement of home and host supervisors in the collaboration

  • Budget Justification

    • Appropriateness of budget for project and proposed duration

Disbursement and Requirements

  • Recipients of ACTOR exchange funds must provide 1) a brief summary report of their exchange project within one month of the end of their exchange as well as 2) a research report for the ACTOR Project Blog page. For more information, visit the TOR Submission Guidelines, and all accompanying files must be clearly labelled and organized. It is the responsibility of the applicant to curate all data being submitted making sure it is identifiable and understandable to any potential user.

  • The award will be disbursed as follows: 80% following the announcement of results and 20% after the completion of the report and TOR research report.
